Safex web site
Safex (the South African Fish Exchange) was envisioned to be a local competitor for the international fish auction sites currently in operation, such as PEFA. In partnership with iafrica, I advised on how best to structure the site, functionality and graphic design - I would have been responsible for all content, maintenance and operations. The site was going to operate similarly to an ebay or amazon auction portal - primarily for the local industry to sell products to foreign buyers. Unfortunately the current local fishing industry was, and still is, not ready for this technological advancement (the market in Europe is far more technologically advanced) and the project was shelved until further notice. I integrated the database of South African fishing industry contacts into the Walala Wasala web site and still administrate it as a free service.
UPDATE : A new online auction portal for the fishing industry has now been commissioned by Walala Wasala and a group of industry investors. Development on the portal begins on the 25th of January 2008.
